Obituary of Mera Rutledge

With great sadness we announce the passing of Mera Edna Gladys (Ward) Rutledge on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 17, 1929 in Hazelton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Grace (O’Donnell) Ward. Mera is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack R. Rutledge; her daughter, Judith (Rutledge) Davis and granddaughter, Robin Davis. She is also survived by her three brothers, Darryl (Edith) Ward, Frank (Companion Robyn) Ward and Jeff (Sharon) Ward; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mera was predeceased by one son, Gordon Allison; three sisters, Leona Power, Alice Telesco and Roberta Finnie; two brothers, Norton and John Ward. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11am with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Frank, Ryan, Jeff and Randy Ward, Larry McGuire and Donald Murray; Honourary Pallbearers will be Raysh Murray, James Strachan, Vingie Ward, Greg Gilmore, Ken Pitcher, Ron Clark, Glenn Rutledge, Phillip Rutledge and Gordon Wamsley. There will be a reception in the Fireside Room following the service. Interment will take place in St. Thomas United Cemetery, Doaktown, NB with Rev. Paul McGrattan officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Canadian Cancer Society, St. Thomas United Church, Doaktown or the charity of the donor’s choice.
