Obituary of Irason Ross

The passing of Irason “Curly” Ross, of Fredericton, husband of Joan (Spragg) Ross, occurred on Monday, April 25, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving family by his side, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 16, 1928 in Cape Sable Island, NS, he was a son of the late Ira Ross and Lula Smith. Irason had retired from the Federal Civil Service. He was a member of Douglas United Baptist Church, the Douglas Tried and True 50 Plus, the Elm Tree Squares and the Mick Mack Trailer Club. Besides his wife, Irason is survived by his daughters, Glenna Ross-Upton (Brian) of Keswick Ridge, NB and Krista Ross of Fredericton, NB; his sons, Gary (Lynne) of Winnipeg, MB and Kent (Michelle) of Fredericton, NB; five grandchildren, Joanne, Jonathan, Joel, Jaala and Rachel; five great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; three step great great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby May (Wes) of Cape Sable Island, NS, Valda Justason (Stanley) of Toronto, ON and Linda Swim (Robert) of Cape Sable Island, NS; brother, Osgood of Cape Sable Island, NS; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father, Marsden Smith; sisters, Wenonia, Donna, Dorothy, Lois and Marjorie; brothers, Mac, Ernest, Larry, Waldo, Loveland, Winston and infants, Alfa and Ira. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Douglas United Baptist Church on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11 am with Rev. Peter Moore officiating. Interment will take place at Dayton Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Douglas United Baptist Church – Building Fund or the Green Hill Lake Camp. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
