Obituary of Gerald Long
After a long and courageous battle the passing of Gerald “Jerry” Albin Long occurred on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on July 1, 1951 in Ludlow, NB he was the son of the late Allan and Victoria (Lyons) Long.
In addition to his loving wife of over 42 years, Dixie (Hetherington); he is survived by his daughters, Heather Long and Christina Long. Jerry is also survived by his sisters, Marlena Malek of Fredericton, Carol Price (Danny) of Montreal, and Ardith Whalen (Wayne) of Fredericton; brothers, James (Bonny) of Mississauga, Arden of Prince George, and Kevin of Porter’s Cove; as well as several nieces and nephews; loving in-laws and a host of long-time friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Adam Long as well as brothers, Wayne and Ronald Long.
Jerry spent over 43 years working at Wood Motors. It was a career that brought him great pleasure and pride. Many summer evenings you could hear his distinctive laugh coming from the deck of the family home where he loved spending time with family and friends; and of course his best pal Jack.
