Obituary of Helen Amos

With great sadness, the passing of Helen Mae Amos, wife of the late James Amos of Doaktown, NB occurred on Thursday, March3, 2016 at the Oromocto Public Hospital in Oromocto, NB. Born on February 22, 1921 in Storeytown, NB she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Helena (Carr) Storey. Helen retired as a cook from the Village Restaurant in Doaktown but continued to bake for the community long after. She was a past member of the Doaktown Curling Club, enjoyed word puzzles, country music and was very social. Helen was a member of Doaktown United Pentecostal Church and read her Bible daily. Helen is survived by her children, Derall (Matilda) Amos of Port Alberni, BC, Wayne (Donna) Amos of Doaktown, NB, Pat St. Jean of Langley, BC, Ivan (Yvonne) Amos of Cobblehill, BC, Deborah Amos of Toronto, ON, Wilma (Jim) Clowater of Fredericton, NB and Joy Amos of Doaktown, NB; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosella MacKay of Fredericton, NB, Glenna Prewer and Joyce Leger, both of Toronto, ON; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Helen was predeceased by an infant daughter; an infant son, Harold “Buddy”; sisters, Almeda Stewart and Marjorie Giles; brother, Elwood Storey; and daughter-in-law, Judy Amos. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Chapel, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Doaktown United Pentecostal Church on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Ron Carroll and Rev. Russell Morehouse officiating. Interment will take place in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Doaktown, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, New Brunswick Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Oromocto Public Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care Unit).
