Obituary of Leo Arseneau

Arseneau, Leo Joseph The passing of Leo Joseph Arseneau of Fredericton, NB, husband of Marie (Pineau) Arseneau, occurred on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 21, 1928 in Acadieville, NB he was a son of the late Joseph and Bernadette (Gallant) Arseneau. Leo was a member and long-time volunteer at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He was employed with Hartt Shoe Factory for 41 years before retiring. Leo had also volunteered with York Care Centre for 38 years. He was active with both the Barkers Point Swingers and the Elm Tree Square Dancers. In addition to his wife, Leo is survived by his children, Louise Chapman (Gary) of New Maryland, NB and their children, Shari Tucker, Anita Kirkbride (Kevin) (Elizabeth and Samantha Hovey), Paul Arseneau of Keswick, NB; Sylvia Staples (Bruce) of New Maryland, NB and her children, Dianne, Monique, Pierre and Andre Arseneault and Rita Freeze (David) of Saint John, NB and their children, Eric and Ian Freeze; sisters, Estelle Quevillion of Timmins, ON and Emily Frigault (Don) of St. Stephen, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Leo was predeceased by his sisters, Rita Daigle and Irene Vautour; brothers, Alyre and Emile Arseneau. There will be no visitation by request. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Anthony’s Parish on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 11 am with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
