Obituary of Ruby Mills

The passing of Ruby Loretta (Sturgeon) Mills of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Philip Mills occurred on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 14, 1920 in Blackville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Margaret (Brennan) Sturgeon. Ruby was a member of Wilmot United Church, Marysville Seniors Bowling and former member of the Marysville Seniors. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Judy MacKenzie (Alton) of Fredericton, NB; step daughter, Jean Hossack (Fred) of Lower St. Mary’s, NB; grandchildren, Tricia MacKenzie, Shelley Cormier, Heather Dunnett (Troy) and Nicole MacVay; several great grandchildren; special friends, Walter and Joan Hodder, Mavis Sturgeon as well as many other special friends; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Ruby was predeceased by her son, John MacVay; granddaughter, Tanya MacKenzie; grandson, Kevin MacKenzie; sister, Margaret Jardine; brothers, Earl, James, Carl and Russell Sturgeon. There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
