Obituary of Winnifred Morrison

The passing of Winnifred “Winnie” Emily Morrison, wife of the late Leslie Morrison, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on February 22, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 3, 1928 in England, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Henrietta Lay. Winnie worked for Clark’s Chick Hatchery for 31 years. She loved to play games, do puzzles and read. She was a long time choir member of Keswick United Baptist Church. Winnie is survived by her sons, Tom Calhoun (Leona) of Camrose, AB, Robert “Bob” Calhoun (Shirley) of Timmins, ON and Paul Calhoun (Mary) of Fredericton, NB; her grandchildren, David Calhoun (Melody), Melanie Wilson (Jonathan), William Calhoun (Natalie), Melissa Calhoun-Lavergne (TJ), Rhys Calhoun and Sandra LeBlanc (Dan); several great grandchildren as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Winnie is also survived by her step daughter, Mavis Jones (Lance) of Burtts Corner, NB; her step sons, David Morrison (Sharon) of Prince George, BC and Murray Morrison (Valerie) of Grimsby, ON; step grandchildren, Glen Morrison (Melanie), Tracey Partridge (Kevin), Tanya Munn (Chris) and Kimberley Jones (Javier) and several step great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia “Patsy” Calhoun and several brothers and sisters. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 6 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Moore and The Venerable John T. Sharpe officiating. Reception will follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in Bear Island Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Red Cross Society or to the Salvation Army.
