All of us in the CARP National Office were sorry to learn of the passing of the founding member of the Fredericton CARP Chapter.
Steve had a prominent place in Moses’ road show video… who when challenged on camera by Moses to start a Chapter at an info tour of the Maritimes and gladly took up the opportunity.
We followed Steves efforts on behalf of seniors and were proud to see his work as a “senior goodwill ambassador” for the province’s wellness strategy.
Sincere condolences to the Goudey family and friends from our staff and volunteers across Canada.

The world lost a special person. Steve was my backyard neighbor for the past 10 years. He watched our kids play in the backyard and over the last year the dogs. He was very special to my son Bram and always had a tool, seed or other "project item" that Bram needed. Much like Wilson in Home Improvement, Steve and I had many over the fence conversations on a regular basis over the years. It wont be the same on a late summer evening to not hear the murmuring of Steve and Nancys voices coming through the windows as they enjoyed the still quiet of the evening from their deck. He will be missed.

Jodi, I was sorry to read of your Dads passing. I hope you and your mom find comfort in all the stories and memories that others are sharing. I remember meeting your Dad a few times as a kid, he was always smiling and energetic. I met him again a few years ago and he was exactly the same. Take care, love K

My deepest sympathies are with you Nancy and family at this time. There was never a more encouraging, supportive co-worker and a friend than Steve. He was my first boss here in NBCCD. He welcomed multiculturalism and every new person was welcomed and made to feel a part of the team. I enjoyed working with him, his never ending stories, his visits and he will be greatly missed.

Absolutely sorry for your loss. You must be asking yourself why? Why now, why not 25 years later? It certainly is difficult to be dealing with, but I am sure you know you have lots of family and friends to assist you and Jodi. So nice though that you can be so proud of Steve and your entire family. God Bless all of you !!!

"Mr. Goudey" was my U14 soccer coach (many many years ago)-that team was the first team I ever played for so he was my first coach. Ill always remember him as he was an incredibly positive influence on my life. I still remember him setting aside some extra time to work with me, and bringing Jodi to take shots on me one night(I played goalkeeper that season), and how confident I felt after knowing that I was able to stop many of her shots! (Jodi was a superstar in our eyes)In later years, I realized that he no doubt asked her to go easy on me that night, but it was a real confidence-booster for me and one Ill never forget. We went on to win gold at NB Provincials that summer by shutting out 2 skilled and hard to beat teams. It was a summer Ill never forget. Im so sorry for your loss, Nancy and Jodi, Steve will be remembered fondly by many for years to come.

So sorry to hear of Steves passing. I worked with him at the NB Community College (payroll dept) for a summer work term back in the early 1980s. I was immediately drawn to Steves pleasant nature and positive attitude and we shared many laughs together while working hard to keep the colleges employees paid! Steve was a great guy - so glad we crossed paths.

Steve has more than accomplished his goal of touching peoples hearts and minds. He was a unique personality and positively affected an enormous amount of people. He has left us with a legacy of keeping a positive mindset in the experience of life. We always enjoyed our sidewalk conversations with him, while he was walking Scotia or Sadie past our house. I regret that we never did get to have our conversation on the history of the Bates St neighborhood. He made a difference in the way we look at life and we will always be thankful for that gift. God bless you all.
