Life Legacy
The passing of Joan Millicent (Brittany) Stephens of Fredericton, NB occurred on Friday, February 12, 2016 unexpectedly at home. Joan was the beloved wife of Norman Alton Stephens. Born on June, 25, 1931 in Stanley, NB, she was a daughter of the late Frederic James and Annie Mae Brittany. Joan was a nurse at York Care Centre for 22 years.
In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by three sons, John Stephens (Lynn Levesque), Gerald Stephens (Michelle Tardiff) both of Ottawa, ON and Peter Stephens (Heather Bradley-Grant) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon Stephens of Ottawa, ON and Haley and Cody Grant of Fredericton, NB; twin sister, Joyce Chamberlain; sister in law, Irene Brittany; numerous nieces and nephews; her dog, Oreo.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret McLeod and Catherine Jarrett; brother, Fred Brittany.
There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. J.D. Kennedy officiating. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or a charity of the donor’s choice.
