Obituary of Alvin Black

The passing of Alvin Winston Black of Fredericton, NB, husband of Euphemia (O’Donnell) Black occurred on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 8, 1941 in Holtville, NB, he was the son of the late Everett and Bernice (MacKay) Black. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Manager for J.D. Irving for 26 years; he also worked in various jobs in forestry and construction. Alvin loved the outdoors whether for work or personal time and enjoyed vacationing. He was a quiet man of a few words, who loved and respected his family and friends; he had a great sense of humour. Alvin recently was proud to hold his new great granddaughter, “Allie”. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Robert Black (Carla) of Boiestown, NB and Ron Black (Bonnie) of Hoyt, NB; proud and loving Bampy to Tyler Black (Madison), Cassie Van Wart (Sheldon) and Kaylee Van Wart (Drake); great grandchildren, Allie, Sophie and Abby; sister, Dorothy McNeil of Stanley, NB; brothers, George Black (Mary Ellen) of Boiestown, NB and Everett Black (Wanda) of Kingston, ON; many nieces, nephews, and his loving O’Donnell family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Jeanne, Zola and Toots; brother, Elwood; nieces, Jesse, Theresa and Kathy; nephew, Wynn; mother and father in law, Perley and Lea O’Donnell. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Chapel, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 2-6 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at St. James the Greater Anglican Church, Ludlow, NB on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 2 pm with Canon Kevin Stockall officiating.
