Obituary of Marie Kerr

The passing of Marie Cora (Thomas) Kerr of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Ashley Parker Kerr occurred on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 23, 1927 in Williamsburg, NB, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Bessie (Dorcas) Thomas. Marie retired as the co-owner of Kerr’s Grocery, Williamsburg, NB. She was a member of the United Church of Canada. Marie is survived by her two sons, Rev. Gerald Kerr (Ida) of Perth, ON and Basil Kerr (Helen) of Saint John, NB; chosen son and daughter, Charlie and Bonnie Meade of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Karen (Gary) Rasmussen-Lohnes, Karla (Dave) Palmer, Jeremy (Karen), Zachary (Sarah) and Lindsi (Jarin) Stewart; chosen granddaughter, Shelley Jones of New Glasgow, NS; great grandchildren, Jacob (Holli) Wilson and Noah (Brooke) Wilson, Ethan, Jonah, Kerr, Erica and Kaiden; great great grandchildren, Daemon, Ryder, Adlyn, Ellie; sister, Frances (Stanley late) Gullison and brother, James (Greta) Thomas both of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Marie was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Jessie and Robert Rasmussen. A special “thank you” to Mum’s caregivers over the past year and a half, Joanne, Rose, Loretta, backup nurse Debbie, the staff at Paradise Villa and the caring doctors and nursing staff on 4NW at the hospital. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Nashwaaksis United Church on Wednesday at 11 am with Rev. J.D. Kennedy and Rev. Gerald Kerr presiding. Interment will take place in Williamsburg Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Nashwaaksis United Church or the Mission & Service Fund of the United Church of Canada or a charity of your choice. In the spirit of feeding the community as Mum and Dad’s vocation you are invited to bring a non-perishable food item to the visitation to be donated to local food banks.
