Obituary of James Galvin

The passing of James Francis Galvin, husband of Mariette (Roy) Galvin of Fredericton, NB occurred on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 3, 1938 in Chandler, QC, James was the son of the late Frank and Theresa (Warnock) Galvin. Before retirement, James worked with the New Brunswick Department of Education. He is a past Board Member of York Care Centre, enjoyed golfing and had a great interest in genealogy. James was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his wife of 48 years, Mariette, he is survived by his daughters, Carolin Galvin (Rob Lemmon), Charlene Cummins (Chris) both of Fredericton, NB and Nicole Galvin of Ottawa, ON; son Michael Galvin of Montreal, QC; grandchildren, Madeline, Gabrielle and Olivia. Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his sister, Anne Galvin-McCauley. Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Knights of Columbus will assemble for a prayer service at 6:45 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11 am with Father John Jennings as Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of the ICU at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital and Saint John Regional Hospital for the excellent care they provided to James during his time there.
