Obituary of Winifred McSorley

Life Legacy The passing of Winifred Olive McSorley, wife of the late Philip McSorley, occurred on December 31, 2015 at York Care Centre. Born on March 17, 1922 in Fredericton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Merlin and Minnie (McKeil) Hovey. Winifred graduated in 1944 as a Registered Nurse and worked at the Victoria Public Hospital. She was a member of the Devon Seniors Group and enjoyed playing Bridge. Winifred is survived by her children, Marjorie Dickinson (Ralph) of Hartland, NB, Phyllis Woodland (Junior) of Fredericton, NB, Pete McSorley (Brenda Boyd) of Islandview, NB, Beverly Hobbs (Donald) of Quispamsis, NB and Janet Amirault (Michael) of Hanwell, NB; nine grandchildren, Jason Woodland, Dawne Leger, Michael McSorley-Mulholland, Peter McSorley-Mulholland, Morgan McSorley, Sarah Black, Emily Hobbs, Tammy Lock and Jason Amirault; nine great grandchildren, Ryan and Brodie Woodland, Emma and Billy Leger, Madison and Abby Black, Samantha and Zakkary Lock and Anna Amirault; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Bradley Savage; sisters, Mabel Sloat and Helen Howe and brother, Ronald Hovey. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 11 am with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. Special thanks to Dr. Kerr, nursing staff of Tower 2, Debbie Dunphy and staff of York Care Centre for all your wonderful care of our mother during her time there.
