Obituary of Ethel MacMillan
With her loving son, Peter, by her side, Ethel passed away at Thomas Hall, Shannex on Sunday, December 27, 2015. Born on January 24, 1921 in Leeds, Yorkshire England, she was the daughter of the late Jordan and Hilda (Foster) Bilton. She was a Veteran of WWII, as a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, where she served in Brighton, Isle of White and Gloucester for 3 years. It was at a local dance that she met a blue eyed, golden haired soldier from New Brunswick North Shore Regiment (R.S.M. Bryon J. MacMillan, who was the love of her life for 48 years, until his death in 1990. She worked at Creaghan’s and Tower’s Jewellery. Ethel was a member of the Kinettes and also the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 for 48 years. She belonged to a Bridge Club, War Brides and enjoyed swimming and was an avid reader. Ethel’s family were her #1 priority, she was a very involved mother. She was a loving, generous and extremely supporting of her family.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Margaret Pacey; sons, David (Jocelyne) and Peter (Lynn MacKnight); grandchildren, Gregory (Patricia) and Jillian Pacey, Steve (Krista), Stuart (Danielle), Jennie (Kyle Headdy) and Ainslee; great grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Malorie and Maelle. Besides her parents and her loving husband of 48 years, she was predeceased by her brothers, John, Alfie and sister, Dorothy.

Ethel’s final request was that people remember her as she was. With this in mind, there will be no visitation at her request. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
