Obituary of John Mossman
The passing of John Naismith Rennie Mossman, Sr., of Fredericton, NB occurred on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. John was the beloved husband of Anne Marie (Oakes) Mossman. Born on December 6, 1936 in Florenceville, NB, he was a son of the late George and Jean Mossman. He graduated from UNB in 1962 with a degree in Civil Engineering, and spent 32 years with the NB Department of Transportation.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John Mossman Jr. (Monique Pelletier) of Fredericton, NB, and his daughter, Beth Hill, of Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Alexandra Hill, Lauren Hill, Samuel Mossman and Mathieu Mossman; sister, Faye Estey, St. Stephen, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, George Mossman, and a sister, Janet Williams. He dearly loved all his grandchildren and was never happier than when he was spending time with them.
John was a life member of the Thistle Fishing Club, a founding and life member of the Fredericton Trap and Skeet Club, in addition to holding memberships in the Lake George Gun Club, Fredericton Seniors’ Workshop, O’Dell Collectors and Shooters Fraternity, Miramichi Salmon Association, Ducks Unlimited, and Ruffed Grouse Society. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and all outdoor activities.
There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 o’clock on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Nashwaaksis United Church with Rev. Franklin Curtis officiating. A reception will follow in the church auditorium. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Canadian Red Cross, Fredericton Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
