Obituary of George Dignam
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Dignam on September 28th, 2015. Born in Chatham, NB on June 24, 1944, he was the son of the late John and Louise (Hubbard) Dignam.
He was a hardworking, selfless, gregarious and family-oriented gentleman who was well-liked both in the community and by anyone who truly knew him. He was a draftsman by training and spent 35 years with the civil service, retiring from NB Liquor in 2004.
George is survived by his loving wife Judith (Durling) Lake; sons, Kevin (Dawn) Dignam and Keith Dignam; step-daughters, Jill Comly and Pamela (James) Bouchard; grandchildren, Kayla, Keenan and Kylie Dignam, Lillian and Harker Comly; sisters, Rita Spurr and Marie Lyons.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by brothers Joseph, Gerald and Robert; and a sister, Eileen Comfort.
A special thank you to Dr. Gowan and the caring and compassionate staff at the DECRH. And to all the other medical professionals who treated George with dedication, especially Sherry from extra-mural.
Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 6:30 – 8 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lincoln, NB on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11 am with Father Mark Trzop as Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow. Donations in memory of George may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the memorial of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
