Obituary of Hazel Millett
The passing of Hazel Mae Millett, wife of Myron Millett, occurred on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Nashwaak Villa in Stanley. Born on December 2, 1929 in Lower Greenville, NS, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ellen-Jane (Garneau) Hardie. She was a social butterfly, never met a person she couldn’t tell a story to, was always thinking of what she could do charitably for others. Naturally talented in many areas, oil and water color painting, sewing, millinery, she was never afraid of a challenge or taking on something new.
The United Church was a big part of her life, belonging to UCW and the Women’s Institute. She loved to receive, a guest book was at their front door and often fine china was set on a beautiful table cloth.
A most engaging mother, she welcomed all of our friends as if they were her own and was dearly loved by all her nieces and nephews. Adored by her husband, Myron, his first gladiola of the season was for her. Having just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary, they were never apart for very long and could dance beautifully into their 80’s.
The matriarch, yet the youngest of the eight siblings, she was predeceased by Gordon, Gwen, Ella, Maxwell, Leona and is survived by Banning (Pearl) and Raymond (Shirley). In addition to her husband, Hazel is survived by her daughters, Myra-Jane Dysart (David) of North Tay, NB, Judy Millett of Halifax, NS, Joyce Millett of Montreal, QC and Ginny Scott (Ian) of Calgary, AB; son, Stewart Millett (Claudia) of Victoria, BC; nine grandchildren, Graham, Sasha, Jonathan, Geremy, Jennifer, Amy, Michael, Sarah and Alexandra; great grandchildren, Jonah, Lauren, Jersey, Daphné, Meredith, Laurie, Anna, Ronan, Lucas and Janie.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
