Obituary of Ruby Banks

The passing of Ruby May (Valanne) Banks, of Fredericton, NB occurred on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 30, 1930 in North Minto, NB, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Estella (Collins) Valanne. Ruby is survived by her children, Gail Allen (Paul) of Fredericton, NB, Dale Banks (Debbie) of Springhill, NS, Ken Banks (Linda) of Riverview, NB, Judy Deveau of Fredericton, NB and Sherrie Melanson (Chris) of Fredericton, NB; 11 grandchildren Kathy Palmer (Darren), Melanie Tingley (Joel), Daryl Allen (Gabriela), Jeff Banks (Marie), Jacqueline Langford (Mark), Stephen Deveau (Tracy), Kylie Deveau, Ryan, Amy, Joshua and Jordan Melanson; 17 great grandchildren; siblings Marion McNeill, Anita Jewett (Allison), Bruce Valanne (Geraldine) and Lois Wilson (David); brothers-in-law Come Losier and Rene LeFait (Pinto); several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and partner George Johnstone, she was predeceased by her sisters, Edith Losier, Betty Kennedy-LeFait, Irene Hennessy and Donna Bezanson; brother Ken Valanne; sister-in-law Ida Valanne; brothers-in-law Ernest McNeill and James Hennessy. Although there will be no visitation, a Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday September 9, 2015 at 2pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Canada, Children’s Wish Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
