Obituary of Bernice Heustis
The passing of Bernice Maude Heustis of Douglas Harbour, NB, wife of the late Philip Heustis occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at York Care Centre. She was born on June 25, 1918 in Newcastle Creek, NB, the daughter of the late Everett and Maude (Smith) Crawford. She was a member of the Scotchtown United Church and a past member of the UCW and the church choir. Bernice was also Past President of the Eastern Star and Four Lakes Seniors Hall and an Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Bernice enjoyed bowling, knitting, quilting and senior’s dances.
Bernice is survived by her children, Ruthie England Hitchings of Virginia, USA, Brenda Murphy (Gordon) of Fredericton, NB, Patricia Pilson (Ashton) of Douglas Harbour, NB, Maynard Heustis (Lorraine) of Fredericton, NB and Ivan Heustis of Douglas Harbour, NB; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters, Marion Smith of California, USA and Dorothy MacDonald of Douglas, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, second husband and first husband, William England; she was predeceased by her sisters, Thelma, Ruth, Effie and Laura; brothers, Lorne, Don, Norvan and Clifton; son-in-law, Ralph Hitchings.
A private interment will take place in Newcastle Creek Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of York Care Centre, Tower 3 for their care of Bernice.
