Obituary of Mary Dean

The passing of Mary G. (MacLean) Dean of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late George Dean, occurred on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 10, 1927 in Glace Bay, NS, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Driver) MacLean. Mary was a longtime resident of Barkers Point, where she was very active in the Barkers Point Women’s Institute. As well, she was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #4 Fredericton and a member of Gibson Memorial United Church. Mary enjoyed spending time with family and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her words of love and wisdom will always be remembered. Mary is survived by her daughters, Georgina Blakeney (Peter) of Sussex, NB, Marilyn Kerton (Ron) of Fredericton, NB; sons, Art Dean (Gloria), George Dean (Jane), Kevin Dean (Krista) and Jack Dean, all of Fredericton, NB; twelve grandchildren, Rosemary Thompson (Calvin), Jason Davidson (Laurie), Rebecca Davidson, Jody Dean (Adrienne), Jared Dean (Sara), Geoff Blakeney (Mi Young), Peter Blakeney (Christina), Angie Rutter (Patrick), Alexia Dean (Jamie Seymour), Avery Dean, Nicholas Dean (Brittany) and Alexander Dean (Mallory Bostick); twenty great grandchildren; sister, Betty Stapleford (Wes) of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her good friend, Lionel Richard; sister, Margie Burns and brother, Art MacLean. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, on Tuesday June 30, 2015 from 5 to 9 pm. A Funeral service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11am with Rev. Cora Krommenhoek officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #4 Fredericton, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
