Obituary of Elizabeth Mary Hartwright
Elizabeth Mary “Betty” Hartwright, of Noonan, NB, formerly of Oshawa, ON, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, June 19, 2015 at her home in Noonan, NB.
Gifted with a true servant’s heart, she found great joy in investing her time and energy in helping others, whether opening her home to people in need or volunteering in various ministries including, in recent years, Bibles for Missions. Betty was a dedicated volunteer at the churches she attended during her life, serving in various positions including the Board of Management, Sunday School superintendent and Financial Secretary. One of the first to sign up for any work parties at the church, her willing hands were seldom idle.
Proud of her Scottish heritage, one of the highlights of her later years was the opportunity to travel to Scotland, visiting relatives and touring the countryside.
Survived by her three children, Ron (Judy) Sorenson of Oakwood, ON, Bill (Karen) Sorenson of Fredericton, NB and Deanna (Adam) Weaver of Kitchener, ON; the father of her three children, Donald Sorenson of Brechin, ON; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ainlay “Ed” Hartwright; parents, William and Joan Laughland; special “mom”, Jennie English and sister and brother-in-law, Christina and Orville Cantwell.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 11 am with Pastor Lawrence Meade officiating. Interment will take place in Thornton Cemetery, Oshawa, ON at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation or to Bibles for Missions. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
