Obituary of James Allen

It is with great sadness that the family of Garry Allen of Fredericton, NB, announce his sudden passing on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 10, 1944 in Hanna, AB he was the son of the late Robert and Helen (Larsen) Allen. Garry was a Professor of Political Science at UNB for 35 years where he always loved a good debate with colleagues and students alike. Besides being an avid photographer, he enjoyed backyard birding, music, travel and cooking. Sports were a passion, and he was a huge fan of the New York Yankees and the Montreal Canadiens. He also looked forward to his weekday coffee breaks with the boys. In addition to his spouse, Ruth Rogers, he is survived by his daughter, Bernadette Stott (Phil) of London, England; grandchildren, Jacob, Finlay, Anna and the extended Rogers family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant twin brother. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 2-4 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 2 pm with Father Monte Peters officiating. Interment will take place in Birch Hill Cemetery, Berry Mills, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Antipoverty Organization (FAPO) or NATURE NB.
