Dear Joan
I am profoundly saddened to learn of Bob's death. He was a classmate, a friend and a colleague. In every way, he was a principled warrior who gave the best of himself to his clients and his community. I will always love him for reaching out to me at a difficult time. He was truly one of the good guys and for the rest of my days I'll regret that he was not given more time.
Sincerely, David Clark

Dear Joan & family, We are back from Ottawa this weekend. We regret missing Bob's funeral. I have followed your 'love' story since you were 'one of my best teachers' in high school. I remember our class of mainly girls gushing over first, your engagement to this handsome RCMP officer & then your wedding. Bob's career of 'helping others' was enhanced by the strong lady who stood at his side through thick & thin & kept the home fires burning. Joan you are an amazing woman. With many kind thoughts of you & yours. Maureen & Richard

Both my mother, Lois, and I wish to express our condolences at this time for the loss of such a remarkable and generous pillar of the community. We know just how keenly that Joan, Mary Ellen, Natalie and Brigette must be feeling the absence of treasured husband and father, Bob, at this time, and want you to know that you are in our thoughts and our prayers.
For my part, I must take a moment to acknowledge the example he set for me, and the opportunity which he provided. I continue to carry his lessons with me today, and will do so throughtout my career. We've added two trees to our backyard today in Bob's honour, and I'll be sure to pause for a moment this summer when I take my family for their first trip to Fenway, and remember Bob's love for the place.

I first met Bob from frequent visits to the YMCA years ago. After seeing each other in the building from time to time we eventually introduced ourselves more formally when we shared some locker area space. Later, I had Bob help with a small legal matter.
I will always remember Bob for his friendship/kindness, his interest in my life, his positivity/good nature, his love for nature and especially his courage.
I am so sorry for you folks and so sorry for Bob for he had so much "life" to share with you and friends.

When I think of Bob Kenny it brings me back to my early teens on Elgin street, summer evenings at your place teasing, storytelling, laughter and just all around fun. The annual Christmas Eve visit with Gilles beforeI midnight mass. I had my first real beer with Bob, "Here you go Richard" taking care to pronounce my name in French. I learned a lot from Bob, about history, baseball, politics and more. I was saddened by the news of his passing, but it wasn't long before I was smiling thinking of the great moments I had with Bob and his family while I was growing up.
Joan, Mary Ellen, Nathalie and Brigitte, my thoughts and love are with you during this difficult time.

My memory of Joan and Bob relates to the 2008 municipal election. When I told Bob I was going to run for council he was very happy that a "Marysville" boy was going to step up even though I was running in Lincoln. More importantly, when I lost the election, both Joan and Bob came down to my house on election night to say a kind word. Typical of you both and a kindness I never forgot.

Our two families grew up together in Marysville many years ago. We lived on Canada St.not far from Kaine St. In fact we could see his house and often walked by it on the railway tracks.
Later in life whenever we saw Bob on the street in Fredericton he always greeted us no matter how much time had gone by since last seeing him.
Good memories are kept forever in our hearts. And that's what will help you get through the days to come.

Dear Joan, Natalie, Mary Ellen and Bridgette
While attending a St. Thomas University Alumni Board meeting on Saturday, I learned of Bob's passing. Although I was cognizant this day would one day come, I was still shocked to receive the news.
I had the priviledge of working with Bob in the early 90's on electricity regulatory matters and again in 2008 when he represented our company, the New Brunswick System Operator in an application before the Energy and Utilities Board. He was always a pleasure to work with and notably Bob always had an insatiable desire to learn everything he could about the electricity industry and the challenges it was facing.
He was king, gently, assertive, but never aggressive. Quite a remarkable man;he loved a good debate and you could always see the smile on his face broaden when the debate intensified.
There was rare a time in working with Bob that he did not mention you Joan, and the girls. In particular, how much joy each of you brought to his life. He was proud of you Joan and your devotion over the years to your own career.
Both you and Bob have supported St. Thomas University for many years and for that I also want to extend a personal thank you.
Please accept my condolences and know that we will all miss Bob. He will live on in our hearts.

I knew Bob for years working as a journalist covering various trials. When my father Ardean Calhoun died in 1990 I learned something that I did not know about him. He sent me a personal letter on my Dad's passing telling me how much he admired him. My dad worked as animal control officer for the city. Bob said my Dad encouraged him a great deal when he became a lawyer after working as an RCMP officer. He said he was grateful to him for his support during that time. And that was Bob, friends with many, regardless of your station in life. Quick to acknowledge others and slow to take credit.
Fondly remembered. My condolences to the family.

He was my sponsor to the Fredericton Rotary club.
He walked with Norma to the food table at her last Christmas dinner, and he held her plate while she was selecting food. He was jokingly calling her Madame La Presidente. She has gone five years ago of the same illness. He will continue to do good deeds up there.
