Life Legacy
The passing of Mary Edna (Mitchell) MacFarlane of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late William MacFarlane occurred on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at York Care Centre. Born on April 13, 1917 in Clones, NB, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Stella (Drummond) Mitchell. She was a member of Nashwaaksis United Church and the U.C.W. Mary was a creative and talented homemaker and loved entertaining family and friends. She loved quilting, knitting, and gardening and was also a nature lover, who spent time walking and snowshoeing on her wooded property.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Edith Perley (Gerald) of Fredericton, NB; son, Alex MacFarlane of Fredericton, NB; two grandchildren, Dyan Bader (Kai) and Glenn Perley (Jody); she was the beloved Aunt Mary to numerous nieces and nephews, both to the MacFarlane and Mitchell families. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Bertha Pitt and Lena Smith; brothers, John Mitchell and Allan Mitchell.
Visitation will take place in York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Gil MacKenzie and Rev. Frank Curtis officiating. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the loving and affectionate care given to Mary during her stay at York Care Centre – Dixon Lodge.
