Obituary of Priscilla MacDonald

MacDonald, Priscilla Jean (Morehouse) wife of the late Douglas MacDonald passed away April 17,2015 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born May 15, 1931 in Zealand, the only daughter of Haskell and Edith (Burtt) Morehouse, she resided in Burtts Corner most of her life until moving to Shannex Quispamsis in 2010 She was a graduate of Fredericton High School and Provincial Normal School and then while teaching full time for 33 years, she earned her BA and BEd degrees from UNB. Her first school was the one-room, eight-grade Jones Forks School and then she became one of the first teachers of the new Keswick Valley Memorial High School. A member of Saint Paul's Anglican Church, Zealand and an adherent of the Burtts Corner Church of Christ, Priscilla taught Sunday School and was a founding member of the "Young" Ladies Sewing Circle. She was a member of both the local provincial and federal Women's Progressive Conservative Parties, the Women's Institute, Laubach Literacy, and the Retired Teachers' Association. Priscilla and Doug enjoyed a trip to Europe and numerous bus trips which took them to all 10 Canadian provinces and all 48 continental States. She enjoyed baking, knitting, reading, quilting, doing crossword puzzles and doting on her family. She passed many of these passions on to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Wendy (Dale) Haines, Quispamsis and Andrea (Joe) Pelham, Hampton; grandchildren, Stephanie (Cam) Stone of Fonthill, ON, Chris Haines of Moncton, Maddie and Emma Pelham of Hampton; great grandchildren, Liam and Charlotte Stone of Fonthill; brother, Douglas (Marg) of Sutton, ON; special sisters-in-law, Janet (Aulden) Jones of Fredericton and Zula (Mac) Morehouse of Burtts Corner; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. We wish to recognize Janet and Aulden, cousin Carlene Tranquilla, nieces Lisa & Kellie Jones and special friend Heather Ripley whose dedication allowed Mum to stay in her own home 6 1/2 years after Doug passed away. In addition to her dear husband and parents Priscilla was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Freda MacDonald. "Sis" was also predeceased by brothers, Malcolm (Mac) Morehouse, Hugh (Hughie) Morehouse, sister-in-law, Edith, and infant brothers, Arden & Philip. Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Burtts Corner Christian Church on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 2 pm. Committal will take place at the Burtts Corner Community Cemetery at a later date.
