I am so sorry to read this news. She was a friend of my grandmother Lillian Long and knew me as a little girl. We met briefly in the past couple of years and she was as bright and warm and intelligent a woman as I have ever met. A role model for us all. I am so sorry for your loss and so pleased to have reconnected with her recently however briefly.

To the Burpee Family:
Mrs. Burpee was a very good friend of my mother, Jean Fisher. Together, they worked so many hours for the church and did so much for the community. I will never forget Mrs. Burpee as I used to see her all the time at Gibson Memorial. What an incredible selfless person she was - always doing something for the benefit of other people. I always admired her and the others who gave so much to our community in South Devon and beyond.
Please accept my sincerest condolences.

It is such a privilege to share some of the same blood as the Young family. The Young family are truly the most hospitable and kind people I have ever met in my life, and it breaks my heart every time I see one leave. This caliber of people are definitely not a dime a dozen. You will be missed.

Just saw this today and so many memories flooded back to. As a kid spent so much time with her grandson David so was often at her house on union st or at the LBR or even summers at the camp. She always treated me so well and I have nothing but fondness when I think of her. My thoughts are with you all at this time.

Dear Eleanor, Barb and Ray:
An angel has received her wings! You have lost your Mum and I have lost a second Mum. Such a lovely picture of her that I will hold in my heart. I felt so sad to see that lovely face in the newspaper.
I was to glad to be able to attend her last birthday party which was a magnificent affair. She seemed really happy to see everyone and we sure were glad to see her, not thinking it would be for the last time.
I have such pleasant memories of growing up with all of you on Union Street; playing in the playhouse and her bringing up out a lunch and talking to Bubbie. We met all the tenants too and Ray and I played happily for hours. I never remember your Mum being cross or disgusted with us but I am sure we were little brats at times. She was so gracious and kind and worried about all of us.
I will remember her with love and affection and will miss her very much.
Remembering you in my prayers. God Bless. May she rest in peace.
Love,
Sheila (She-She) as she called me

I am one of the many so blessed to have known and worked for this wonderful lady at the Rink. A major influence in my life at a young age, she did not have to speak many words - she taught by example of how to live your life and treat other people. I will remember her life lessons and miss her forever. "When she eats her 3 candies she will put her penny in the pot."

My deepest sympathy to you all in the loss of your precious mother. As CGIT leader at Gibson Phyl played a huge role in my growing-up years. I am sure there must have been times when she grew frustrated with girls who weren't always serious, attentive, or dependable, but every minute of her time with us paid off. We all benefited from what she taught us, and from the way that she made us feel that we were important. With much love, I am giving a donation to the Maritime Regional CGIT Committee in Phyl's memory.
Sincerely,
Sandy

The passing of a legend...and a darling sweet lady. My memories go back to Dave, Phil, and Mrs. Burpee's visits to Albert & Flo's store at Maquapit Lake. They always stopped en route to the Burpee Cottage at Grand Lake. There was also a familial connection as my G-G Grandmother Furguson was a Burpee. So sorry for your loss, Eleanore, Barb, Ray and your families.
