Obituary of Reginald Pond

The passing of Reginald Earl Pond of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Alexina P. (Reid) Pond, occurred on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Veterans Health Unit. Born on May 3, 1920 in Ludlow, NB, he was the son of the late Mellow and Emma Pond. Reg was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. He retired from the University of New Brunswick in 1985 as an Industrial Mechanic. Reg was a wonderful and caring husband, father and grandfather. His other passions in life besides his family was anything mechanical (he was always building or repairing something in his garage), hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He is survived by his daughters, Sheila Staples (William “Bill”) of Fredericton, NB, Elaine Pond of Fredericton, NB and Eleanor Curtis (Kevin) of Douglas, NB; his son, Ronald Pond (Marlene) of Douglas, NB; step-daughter, Gail (Ralph) Stephenson of Keswick Ridge, NB; step-sons, John Timmins of Boundary Creek, NB and Peter Timmins of Keswick Ridge, NB; grandchildren, Jill Scaplen, Kent Staples, Ryan Pond, Dacia Pond, Kara Pond, Mitchell LaPointe, Jordan LaPointe, Jesse LaPointe, Benjamin Curtis, Daniel Curtis and Sarah Curtis; three great grandsons; several step-grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Johnston of McAdam, NB, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he is predeceased by his second wife, Ruth (Murch) (Timmins) Pond; brothers, Hugh, Clarence and Albert Pond; sisters, Marjorie McNally, Leola Jewett, Iva Currie and Georgia Welch. There will be no visitation by request. A Private Family Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Rev. Greg Geldart officiating. Interment will take place in Dayton Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. A special heartfelt thank you to the nurses, Dr. Keddy, Dr. Harvey and all of the staff at the Veterans Health Unit. You made Dad feel at home.
