Judy, Rod Jr. and Derek,
I am saddened to hear of Rod's passing, although I know he fought the very good fight for a long time.
The many wonderful memories shared by those he touched provide an inkling of what a full, active, richly engaged and enriching life Rod gave to the communities he served, as a teacher, administrator, coach, citizen, husband and family man.
He gave generously, continually and passionately, and what more can we ask of anyone than that?
Judy, the two of you were such a fixture for so many of us who grew up in St. Stephen when you were both coaching and teaching.
Please accept our condolences and fondest wishes for you, the boys and all your extended family members.
My fondest personal memories of Rod were as our Home Room teacher in grade 6.
We were a hard, somewhat motley crew, to say the least, but Rod captained our occasionally wayward ship with a mixture of wit, daring, rough justice and aplomb equal to any master pirate. He genuinely made Grade 6 entertaining, engaging, at times raucously funny, and genuinely enlightening; so much so that I still have quite vivid memories of that year. And it was educational in the very best sense.
The many tributes from those who were fortunate enough to play baseball for him, testify that he carried that same love of life, energy and sense of humor into his coaching.
He will be missed.
