Obituary of Robert Sloan
The passing of Robert “Bob” Michael Sloan, of Fredericton, husband of Barbara (Lee) Sloan, occurred on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 10, 1925 in Montreal, QC, he was a son of the late Ellen (Grimes) Sloan. Bob previously worked for Labour Relations with Alcan and the Ontario Labour Relations Board. He was a Docent at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and served on the Frigate “HMCS Teme” during WWII.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Sloan (Christopher Penman) of Oakville, ON; his sons, Stephen (Janet) and Jeffrey (Sharon Burke) both of Fredericton and Anthony (Ewa) Sloan of Poland; grandchildren, Lauren Riley (Aaron), Eric Sloan, Sarah and Joseph Penman; step grandchild, Erin Burke; great grandchildren, Holden and Amelia Riley; sister, Sheila Wills of Montreal, QC and several nieces and nephews. Besides his mother, he was predeceased by his grandson, Matthew Sloan and his sister, Eileen Hayden.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 2 pm with Father Bill Brennan officiating.
