Obituary of Beryl Fewkes

The passing of Beryl May Fewkes of Fredericton, NB, beloved wife of David Fewkes occurred on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 16, 1950 in St. Mary Cray, Kent, England, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Alice (Cable) Gillham. Beryl was a Pharmacy Technician for fifteen years at the DECRH. She was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church. She loved her garden and made it a work of art. She held a special place in her heart for cats and spent many cozy moments with Dudley curled up on her lap. She volunteered her time for others right until the last month of her life as her giving and compassionate spirit never wavered. She loved travelling with her husband and continued throughout her illness, all with fond memories. She was game for anything, with good humour. In addition to her husband, Beryl is survived by her daughter, Caroline MacKay (Fraser) and their children, Jade and Simone; son, Rev. Alan Fewkes (Claire) and their children, Charlotte and Malcolm; sister, Pat Terry of Swanley, Kent, England; brothers, Ron Gillham of Maidstone, England and John Gillham of Perth, Australia; nieces and nephews. We lost her but we will never lose her. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Kevin Stockall officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church or the Fredericton SPCA.
