Obituary of Eldridge Huskins
The passing of Eldridge Richard Huskins Sr. of Fredericton, NB, husband of Catherine Huskins (Mills) occurred on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 25, 1937 in Woods Harbour, NS, he was the son of the late Ralph and Alice (Malone) (Jeffrey) Huskins. Eldridge started his banking career at the age of 17 years old with the Toronto Dominion Bank and worked at various locations for 43 years in total. He was affiliated with Life Tabernacle Church. His last years were spent with his loving and supportive family and friends at York Care Centre. In Montreal he was well known for his passion for Quebec politics. He was an active member of both referenda being in the center of the city for the votes.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Eldridge Richard “Rick” Huskins Jr. and his wife, Joan (McIntosh); daughter, Kelley Hodgson (Huskins) and her husband, Vernon Hodgson; grandsons, Aaron, Thomas and Daniel Huskins; sister, Anna Beazley (Huskins) (Gerald); brothers, Murray Huskins (Annie), Jimmy Huskins (Doris) and Malcolm “Mac” Huskins; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Benjamin Collins; brothers, Elias and Douglas Huskins.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Evangel Assembly on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Duane Collicott and Rev. Terry Messer officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
