Obituary of Constable Christopher LaForest
Life Legacy
The passing of Constable Christopher Michael LaForest of Oromocto, NB, husband of Deborah (Dickison) LaForest, occurred on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Woolastook, NB of natural causes. Christopher was born on June 2, 1970 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was the son of Peter and Mavis (Hoyt) LaForest.
Christopher served as a police officer for 25 years. Starting with the local police services in Woodstock, Nackawic, and Lunenburg/Mahone Bay until joining the RCMP in 1999 and serving the Doaktown/Boiestown area then moving to the "J" Division West District, Oromocto Post. He embraced being a D.A.R.E instructor and participating in the P.A.R.T.Y program with the RCMP. He was a past member of the York/Sunbury Search and Rescue and was active in his Church and their Sunday School Program.
In addition to his wife and parents, Christopher is survived by his step daughter, Kelly Munn of Newfoundland; brothers, Tim LaForest (Cheryl) of Drayton Valley, AB, Steven LaForest (Judy) of Fredericton, NB; godchildren, Abigail and Kayla; godmother, Carolyn Roach; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and his dog, Kujoe.
Christopher was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11 am with Father Bill Brennan as celebrant. Interment will take place at Pickard Merrithew Cemetery, Keswick Ridge, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society or the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation.
