Obituary of Edith Howland
The passing of Edith “Edie” Maude Howland of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Douglas Howland occurred on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born on September 21, 1918 in Scotch Lake, NB, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Martha (Gray) Barton. She was a member of Nashwaaksis United Church and the United Church Women UCW. Edie enjoyed knitting and quilting.
Edie is survived by her daughter, Debbie Howland and son, Philip Howland both of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Olive Anderson, Laura Jackson and Florence Moore; brothers, Charlie, Keith and Clarence Barton.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. J. D. Kennedy officiating. Interment will take place in Bear Island Cemetery at a later date. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Gagetown Special Care Home.
