Obituary of Barbara MacKay

The passing of Barbara Lynn MacKay of Boiestown, NB occurred on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Born on September 21, 1951 in Doaktown, NB she was the daughter of Jacqueline “Jackie” (McCloskey) Ross and the late Vaughn Ross. Barb was a (beloved) mother and grandmother (Gam). She worked as a resident attendant for many years at the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home. She was a joy to be with. She could keep a room of people entertained with her wit, jokes, impersonations and real life mishaps. All who knew Barb remember she loved her “treasures”. In addition to her mother, Barb is survived by her daughter, Courtney MacKay (Joel Lyons) of Doaktown, NB; son Kristen MacKay of Halifax, NS; grandchildren, Brock, Lincoln and Summer; sister, Anne Marie (Beverley) Storey of Boiestown, NB; brothers, Peter (Cathy) Ross of Ludlow, NB, Joel (Alissa) Ross of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her father, Barb was predeceased by her sister, Heather Ross. Visitation will be held at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, Boiestown, NB on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from the Boiestown United Church on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Murray MacFarlane officiating. Interment will be in Boiestown United Church Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home Courtyard Fund or Boiestown United Church Cemetery.
