Obituary of Hendrika McInnis

The passing of Hendrika Petronella (Egberts) McInnis of Fredericton, NB, formerly of Estey’s Bridge, NB, wife of the late Lewis McInnis, occurred on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at York Care Centre. She had been a resident of York Care Centresince 2007. Born on July 8, 1922 in The Hague, Holland, she was the daughter of the late Josephus and Petronella (Bolman) Egberts. She was the fourth youngest of thirteen children. Hendrika, also known as "Rika", came to Canada as a war bride in October, 1946. Hendrika worked for Supply and Services at the Provincial Legislature for 25 years, retiring in 1981. Hendrika is survived by her daughter, Hendrika “Rika” Johnston (Jack) of Oakville, ON; grandchildren, Jody Wheeler (Lynn), Trevor Wheeler (April), Julie Kumaria (Amit) and Jamie Johnston (Nicole); great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hope and Tyler Wheeler, Andrew and Ethan Johnston, Taijal and Priya Kumaria and several nieces and nephews living both in New Brunswick and the Netherlands. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Sylvia Wheeler; son, Toby McInnis; sisters, Cora, Anna, Agnes and Nell; brothers, Piet, Jon, Koos, Frans, Henk, Joop, Paul and Chris Egberts. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Spina Bifida Association of Canada or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
