Obituary of Gerald Church

The passing of Gerald “Ted” Allister Church of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Phyllis (Gollan) Church, occurred on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Vaughn, Hants County, NS on June 24, 1932, he was a son of the late Cephas and Lenora (Swinimer) Church. Ted served with the Canadian Armed Forces, upon completion of 27 years; he worked with the Province of New Brunswick as a Driver’s Examiner until his retirement. Ted is survived by his daughters, Debra “Debbie” Kimball (Thomas) of Woodstock, NB and Darlene Gariepy (Jack) of Fredericton, NB; granddaughter, Stephanie Gariepy of Fredericton, NB; grandson, Adam Kimball (Gilliane Nadeau) of Saint John, NB; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ervin Smeltzer, Royston (Muriel) Gollan, Elsie Swinimer, Lenore (Keith) Woodman, Valerie Gollan, Rhoda Church; special friend, Stella Kerr; several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents and wife Phyllis (2009), Ted was predeceased by sisters. Flossie Church-Allen, Nelsie Bond, Alma Peacock, Pearl Coyde; brothers, Kenneth Church, Bob Church and Charles Church. There will be no visitation by request of the family. A Memorial Service will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Bob Dunlop officiating. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Chalmers Hospital Foundation 3 NE (Rehabilitation Unit). The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Hayter and the wonderful and dedicated staff of 3 NE of the DECH. Ted received excellent and loving care and we are truly grateful for the attention and comfort he received. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
