Obituary of Sidney Coles
The passing of Sidney Arthur Coles of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Freda (McDonald) Coles and Phyllis (Carter) Coles occurred on Friday, October 17, 2014 at York Care Centre. Born on August 9, 1917 in Rugby, England, he was the son of the late Arthur and Constance (Archer) Coles. In 1932 Sidney immigrated from England as a British Home Child. Sidney was a Veteran of WWII, having served as a Corporal in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He retired with the Department of National Defence. Sidney was a member of the Nashwaaksis United Church and past member of the Golden Eagles Shuffle Board Club; Currie Mountain Senior Citizen; Fredericton Lawn Bowling Club and the Fredericton Barbershoppers.
Sidney is survived by his daughter, Connie Jeffrey (Hazen); sons, Donald Coles (Ann) and Robert Henderson all of Fredericton, NB; granddaughter, Lori Henderson-Stickles (Laurie); grandson, Michael Coles (Heather); sisters, Phyllis, Doris and Joyce; several nieces and nephews; Phyllis’ children, Charlotte, Gwen, Faye, Diane, Bendy, Linda, Roger, Gary and Lewis. He was predeceased by Phyllis’ daughter, Joyce and sister, Evelyn.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, October 20, 2014 from 6:30-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 11am with Rev. Diane Tingley officiating. Interment will take place in Dayton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Dayton Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
