Obituary of Manzer Currie
The passing of Manzer Ralph Currie occurred on October 9, 2014 at his home in the arms of his loving wife of over 65 years, Mary (Murray) Currie. Born on March 10, 1927, he was the son of the late Angus and Margaret (Murphy) Currie. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and a doting grandfather. One of his great joys was being at the lake and having all of his grandchildren come to visit. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, Korea Vets Association, Signallers Club of Canada, the Signallers Club of NB and Fish and Game Association. He was an accomplished hunter and fisherman and was a devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Manzer, Dad and Paw will be sadly missed by his wife; daughters, Donna Blanchard (Terry), Kathy Wilkins (Michael) and Cynthia Currie; sons, Ralph “Butch” Currie (Janet) and Stephen Currie; grandchildren, Tammy, Joey C, Matthew, Ryan, Ben, Mike, Stevie, Troy, Amanda, Michelle, Joey W, Kevin and Pam, Sean and Erika; great grandchildren, Sean, Avery, Abbie, Alia and Amber, Aiden and Owen, Gracie, Seth and Noah, Austin, Emma, Olivia, Tyler, Tanner, Breanna, Jaxson, Addie and Ethan, Quinn and Julia; step mom, Verna Currie; sisters, Nancy McAllister (Ernie), Anne Williams (Bev) and Norma Levy (Jaime); brothers, Dan Howells, Henry Currie, Richard Howells (Elaine) and Randy Currie (Cheryl); along with several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Donald, Milton, Lewis and Jack Currie and his great granddaughter, Madison-Mya. He was a proud man and family meant everything to him. He was loved by all and will be missed by many.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with a Legion Tribute beginning at 7 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Chapel on Monday October 13, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Lohnes officiating. Interment will take place in Fredericton Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Food Bank, IWK Children’s Hospital or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
