Obituary of Carrie Estabrooks

The passing of Carrie Erma Estabrooks of Fredericton, NB, wife of Leon M. Estabrooks occurred on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the York Care Centre. Born on April 30, 1933 in Laggan, ON, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Janet (MacKenzie) Lasalle. Carrie worked at various jobs, including the Provincial Government in Ottawa, she also worked in the housekeeping department at Nashwaak Villa and as a custodian in the Stanley School District 26. She lived in Stanley for 26 years. She was a past member of Wilmot United Church. Carrie was a great mother, taking pride in looking after and cooking for her family; she also loved maintaining her huge vegetable garden. In addition to her husband, Carrie is survived by her daughter, Janet Stevens (Robbie) of Colpitts Settlement, NB; sons, Lyle Estabrooks of Fredericton, NB and Larry Estabrooks (Susan) of Nashwaak Village, NB; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers and six sisters; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by grandson, Michael Stevens; three sisters and three brothers. Carrie loved being from a large family and enjoyed being with everyone as often as possible. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11am with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Food Bank, Canadian Cancer Society, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
