Obituary of Camiel Rabaey
The passing of Camiel Maurice Rabaey of Douglas, NB, husband of the late Dorothy (Fewster) Rabaey occurred on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 11, 1939 in Maidstone, ON, he was the son of the late Amand and Laura (Casier) Rabaey. He was a member of St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Cam was part of the founding of retirement homes in New Brunswick including Windsor Court, which he operated for many years. He and his wife raised and showed quality Quarter Horses and Beagles.
Camiel is survived by his daughter, Laurie (Stuart) Appt of Jemseg, NB; sons, Kenneth Smith of Noonan, NB, Bob (Patricia) Rabaey of Strathroy, ON and Dan (Diane) Rabaey of St. Thomas, ON; grandchildren, Kyle, Danielle, Jessica, Sarah and Spencer; sister, Dorothy Versnick of Aylmer, ON; brother, Maurice Rabaey of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Margaret (Adlen) Pieters; and brother-in-law, Andy Versnick.
There will be no local visitation or service by request. A Memorial Service will be held in Delhi, ON at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
