Obituary of Phyllis Cole
Life Legacy
It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Phyllis Cole of Fredericton, who passed away very suddenly on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Burtt’s Corner on August 22, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Philemon and Florence (Brewer) Lawrence. Phyllis was a passionate and caring teacher at the elementary level for thirty nine years and upon her retirement she became an avid gardener. Phyllis was passionate about her involvement in the provincial political scene in the Fredericton area and worked diligently for the New Brunswick Liberal party.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Steven and her son, Meurling. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Gourley of Halifax; her sister, Charlotte Sheppherd (Carl); her brother, George Lawrence (Sheila) both of Burtt’s Corner; her grandchildren, Alexander of Hong Kong, PRC and Jean Gourley of Halifax. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of the York Funeral Home. There will be no visitation; a Funeral Service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, 150 Crocks Point Road, Keswick Ridge, NB on Tuesday September 2, 2014 at 2 pm with The Venerable Archdeacon John Sharp officiating. A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held following the service. Cremation has occurred and internment will take place, at the Burtt’s Corner Community Cemetery, with family only, at a later date.
