Charles Flewelling

Obituary of Charles Flewelling

The passing of Charles (Chuck) Ernest Flewelling of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Georges-Dumont Hospital after a three-year-long battle with cancer. Born on May 20, 1953 in Gagetown, NB, he was the son of the late Samuel and Kathleen (McAloon) Flewelling. Charles was always outgoing and helpful. He loved visiting family and friends and could talk your ear off. Much work was interrupted while he described his plans for his next great adventure. Always seeing the grass as greener on the other side of the fence, he left his job several times for better opportunities elsewhere. He worked in a number of provinces before rediscovering each time that the grass is always greenest close to home. A large thank you goes to Kevin Ritchie for always having a position available for him and for his continuous support during Charles' illness. In addition to his other pursuits, Charles greatly enjoyed photography and reading. Charles is survived by his son, Mark Flewelling; grandchildren, Ethan and Rachel Flewelling; sisters, Teresa (Thomas) Pettigrew and Lynn (John) Bouwmeister; brother; Timothy Flewelling; one niece and two nephews; and good friend, Raymond McGee who also deserves many thanks for his help during Charles’ illness. A special thank you is extended to Dr. St. Hilaire and Dr. Russell Gowan for their care of Charles. A memorial reception will be held for family and friends on August 30th from 2-4 p.m. at the York Funeral Home. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
