Obituary of Roland Rickard

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Roland Charles Rickard into the arms of Our Saviour on August 18, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Roland was born March 27, 1932 in Barkers Point. Roland was predeceased by his father and mother, Wilfred and Ruby (Wasson) Rickard. Roland is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna (Bolster); sons, Matthew (Brenda) of Douglas and Mark (Lana) of Moncton and daughters, Vickey (Darrel) Brown and Jennifer (Tom) Cornford of Fredericton; brothers, John (Joann) Rickard of Ontario, Frank (Sheila) Rickard of Moncton, and a sister, Joan Wilson of Ontario. Roland is also survived by grandsons, Chris (Melanie) Rickard of Ontario, Drew (Allison) Rickard of PEI, Nick Brown, Jeremy (Kristina) Brown of Fredericton and granddaughters, Sandra (Jeff) Rickard of Moncton and Elizabeth (Brian) Rickard of Oromocto; two sister-in-laws, Sandy Bolster and Anne Williams both of Fredericton; great grandsons, Joshua Rickard and Liam Rickard. Roland will always be remembered as a kind and loving person who loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and a great friend to all those who knew him. Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm followed by the Funeral Service at Saint Mary’s Anglican Church on McEvoy Street on Friday, 22, 2014 at 2 pm with Father Kevin Stockall officiating the service. Funeral arrangements are in care of York Funeral Home. Private family interment will be held following the service at Saint Mary’s Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Society or the Saint Mary’s Church Fund. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com A heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful Doctors and nurses who attended to Roland and helped us through this difficult time.
