Elizabeth Bourque

Obituary of Elizabeth Bourque

Elizabeth “Betty” Bourque completed all that God had called her to do on earth and her Lord and Savior called her home on August 8th, 2014. Over 97 years, and quietly behind the veil of life, Betty touched countless lives as a devoted and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, helper and great supporter. In her 20s, Betty became a teacher; she adored children and animals all thru her lifetime. She was also a great cook, hairdresser and a shop owner, and for years ran a boarding house, which she maintained in the mornings and the evenings. Betty was especially proud of her 21 years of service as a civil servant and, upon retirement, she became an apartment complex manager and an advocate and promoter for the Liberal party, which she continued to do till her early 90s. Betty was a true servant to all and was honored to serve others. Born on April 12th, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Savoie) Doucet. Betty is survived by her children, Robert Bourque (Helene), Diane Bourque (Marius), Roderick Bourque, and Francine McKelvie (William); grandchildren, Michael, Richard, Jason, Bianka, Alexandre, Carla, Michael, and Lindsay; great grandchildren, Rylie, Hannah, Nathan, Grace, Jeremy, Gabriel, Eli & Whitney; brother, Henry Doucet; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was predeceased by several brothers. There will be no service as per her request. Betty always chose to put others first; in her passing on, we remember that the Bible says: “So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many are called, but few are chosen.” Betty was called by God before her life began and she is now first in His Kingdom. Because of Betty’s great love for children, if she has touched your life or the lives of those you love, please consider making a donation to the IWK, the Children’s Wish Foundation or a children’s charity of your choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com When anyone visited Betty she would always say “Well, hello, hello, hello; come in, come in, come in!”; God has now said to Betty: “Well hello, hello, hello; come in, come in, come in!”
