Obituary of Margaret Dougherty

The passing of (Margaret) Jean Dougherty of Taymouth, NB, wife of the late Allan Dougherty, occurred on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 7, 1927 in Marysville, NB she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Lavinia "Dot" (Dodds) Stewart. She was a member of the Taymouth United Church and served as the treasurer for many years. Jean served on the board of the Nashwaak Villa, the Upper Nashwaak Community Outreach, and was involved with many other community groups and events such as the 4H Club and the Helping Hands. She greatly enjoyed wildlife, especially birds, gardening and was an avid reader. Jean is survived by her daughter, Sandra English (Gary) of Taymouth, NB; son, Gordon Dougherty of Taymouth, NB; grandchildren, Conor Dougherty of Fredericton, NB and Meghan Dougherty of Stanley, NB, and Allison Hovey of Fredericton, NB; step-grandchildren, Terri English of Fredericton, NB, and Jody English (Tina) of Grand Falls, NB; great grandchildren, Brogan, Casey McKillop-Hovey, Ryan and Landon Hovey, Shawn, Kaylie and Nakooma Paul, and Megan, Josh and Caleb English; great great granddaughters, Natalie, Summer and Amelia Paul; sisters, Fay Stewart of Taymouth, NB, and Ina MacLaggan of Stanley, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Jean was predeceased by her sister, Vera MacBean and brothers, Bill and Andrew Stewart. Visitation will take place Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm ant York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive. A Memorial Service will take place at the Taymouth United Church on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Yevette Swan officiating. Interment will take place at the Taymouth Community Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Nashwaak Villa Helping Hands or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
