Obituary of Hazel McDonald

The passing of Hazel Jane McDonald of Taymouth, NB, wife of J. Larry McDonald occurred on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 31, 1937 in Port Duffern, NS, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Goldie (Pace) Barkhouse. She retired from Mobile Oil and had also worked for Tingley’s Save Easy Restaurant. She was a brand ambassador. Hazel was a soldier at the Salvation Army Fredericton Community Church, Fredericton, NB. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, H. Anita Wilson (Keith) of Durham Bridge, NB, Brian Turner (Karen) of Belleville, ON, Tim Turner (Brenda) of Durham, NB and Catherine McKinney (Donald) of Taymouth, NB; step daughter, Laurie McDonald; grandchildren, Christina (Rod) and Jonathan (Cara); Brittany, Kelsey, Brandon and Kameron; Nyah, Cannan, Jessica, Raven, Bailey and Adam; great grandchildren, Lauren and Julia; Victoria, Jessie, Emma and Kaleb; Jazmin, Juniper and Damean; siblings, Earl Barkhouse (Diane) of Liscombe, NS, Ted Barkhouse (Greta) of Bridgewater, NS, Elmer Barkhouse (Betty) of Victoria, BC and Helen Walsh of Sheet Harbour, NS; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Basil Barkhouse. A Visitation will take place at Salvation Army Fredericton Community Church on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at the church on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11 am with Captain Herb and Alice Goodridge officiating, assisted by Vivian Mag-aso and Yves Bolduc. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Chalmers Foundation-Palliative Care Unit, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
