Obituary of Harry MacLeod
It is with sadness, we announce the passing of Harry Donald MacLeod on Friday, July 4, 2014 at his home, in Boiestown, NB, at the age of 81. Harry was born in Newcastle, NB on June 27, 1933. He was the son of the late Myron MacLeod and the late Donna (MacLellan MacLeod) Langille.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Shirley (Bruce) Pond; daughter in law, Lorraine MacLeod of Bloomfield, NB; son, Stuart Keetch (Brenda) of Leduc, AB; five grandchildren, Stephanie MacLeod (Jody) of Bloomfield, NB, Darren MacLeod of Ontario, Felicia Flewelling (Curtis) of Moncton, NB, Riley and Chanse Berkholtz of Leduc, AB; four great grandchildren, Keiara, Porter, Marah and Kiona; sister, Dorothy Merritt (Vincent) of Maple Grove, NB; step son, Larry Pond (Elaine) of Thunder Bay, ON; two step grandsons, Matthew Pond of Nictaux, NS and Spencer Pond of Thunder Bay, ON; several sisters and brothers in law; nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Della (Calhoun) MacLeod in 1997 and son, Steven MacLeod in 2011.
Harry was a member of Gateway of Hope Assembly, where he was a board member for 40 plus years. Harry also helped with the construction of the church and the expansion project. Harry volunteered with the St. John Ambulance in Boiestown, where he and Della each received an award for over 2000 volunteer hours. Harry was employed with Diamond & Waverly Construction in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, Miramichi Lumber and retired from Ashley Colter Ltd. in 1998. Harry loved hunting, fishing and spending time with family. Being a jack of all trades, he was always willing to lend a hand.
Visitation will be held from the Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon, NB on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Gateway of Hope Assembly, Boiestown, NB on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Wade Bradford officiating. Interment will take place in Parkers Ridge Cemetery. Reception will follow at the church. Donations may be made to the Gateway of Hope Assembly, IWK or the charity of the donor’s choice.
