Obituary of John Murrell Noel

The death of John “Murrell” Noel, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 21, 2014. Born in Jacquet River, NB on February 27, 1929, he was the son of the late Alexander (Sandy) and Philomène (Guitard) Noel. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Gertrude; his two sons, Robert (Christine) and Terence (Liette) and his beloved grandchildren Jason (Shelby), Sarah and Shauna (Craig) Noel, all of Fredericton, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The last surviving member of his immediate family, Murrell was predeceased by his parents; one step-brother, Theophilus Noel; two step-sisters, Loretta Devereaux and Bernice Begin; one sister, Exilda Hartford-Hotham; three brothers, Delphis, Henry and Alex Noel; one sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law. A retired carpenter, he was a member of St. Theresa’s Parish; an honorary member of the Father Bernard F. McMahon Knights of Columbus Council as well as the 4th Degree Rev. Dr. G. Everett Grant Council of Fredericton. Resting a York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, where the visitation will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The Knights of Columbus Council #8654 are asked to assemble for a Prayer Service at 6:45 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday June 24, 2014 at 11 am at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, William Street at Royal Road with Father John Jennings as Celebrant . Interment will be at the St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Special thank you to the staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital Emergency Room and all the members of the CCU unit who showed such compassion and care to Dad and our Family, the level of professionalism was second to none. In Murrell’s memory, donations may be made to the St. Theresa’s Youth Council, St. Anthony’s Cemetery, the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to any charity of the donor’s choice.
