Obituary of Alice Jeffrey

The passing of Alice Louise Jeffrey formerly of New Maryland, NB, wife of the late Bert Lint Jeffrey, occurred on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the York Care Centre. Born on August 30, 1922 in Tay Falls, NB, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Christina (Carson) Plume. Alice retired as a seamstress with Betty Brite Dry Cleaners. She was a member of the New Maryland United Church and also a Life Member of the United Church Women. Alice is survived by her daughter, Connie Jones of New Maryland, NB; sons, Barney Jeffrey (Gail Darby) of Penniac, NB and Hazen Jeffrey (Connie) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Karen Ridley (Mark) of Fredericton, NB, Melanie Lekach (Tim) of Fredericton, NB and Andrew Jeffrey of Fredericton, NB; great grandchildren, Caleb and Janessa Ridley, Teegan and Mataya Lekach; special niece, Betty Barker of Charters Settlement, NB; several nieces and nephews. Alice was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, William, Byron, Laughlin “Mack” and Elbridge Plume; sisters, Mary Shannon, Thelma Curtis, Ella Kitchen, Etta Boone and Flora Wilkins; foster brother, James Carson; son in law, Richard Jones. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 12-2 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 2 pm with Rev. Kelly Burke officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be grandchildren, Andrew Jeffrey, Karen, Mark and Caleb Ridley, Melanie and Tim Lekach. Interment will take place in Pickard-Merrithew Cemetery, Keswick, NB. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered though www.yorkfh.com
