Obituary of Neil Gesner
The passing of Neil A. Gesner of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Winnifred (MacLean) Gesner occurred on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 3, 1925 in Queensbury, NB, he was the son of the late Victor and Agnes (Buckley) Gesner. He worked in auto body repair and painting at Valley Motors and Lawson Motors before running his own shop, Neil’s Body Shop for 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening; he also raised pure breed Pekingese dogs and exotic pheasants. In the last few years, he enjoyed making lawn ornaments and crafts.
Neil is survived by his son, Garvice Gesner; grandsons, Grant and Gordie; great grandsons, Erik, Matthew and Nolan; great granddaughter, Grace; sister in law, Inez; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife; he was predeceased by his son, Girvan; daughter in law, Violet; sisters, Marjorie and Waunita; brothers, Leo and Nelson.
Although there will be no public visitation a private family service will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, June 9, 2014. Interment will take place in the Douglas Rural Cemetery.
